Day + 151
Well, the news today wasn’t good. The cancer has, in fact, invaded my brain. It’s hard to predict how long I’ve got, but likely a few weeks or a couple months at best. I’ve had 4 lumbar punctures and a blood transfusion this afternoon. The team is discussing how to proceed. The palliative care team will see me tomorrow. Then, completing the . . .

Day + 148
After checking into my Kaiser Oakland hospital room yesterday morning on the 10th floor (penthouse!), things began to roll pretty quickly. Many tests (including COVID, several blood tests, two different sputum tests, lumbar puncture), a picc line put in and plenty of forms and reviews of all the meds I’m on.

Day + 146

Day + 142
Whew! So much is happening very fast.

Day + 134
More symptoms, more tests, more phone calls and texts to and from Stanford and Kaiser, more video and in-person appointments, and more pill sorting. It’s a wonder I can get anything else done like cooking, gardening, running errands, exercising, or just relaxing. Thank goodness my koi mostly take care of themselves.

Day + 112
It was hard to decide which image to accompany this blog episode. The last few days (especially yesterday) were a combination of a swirling spiral and a voyage to the unknown.
Lots of things were packed in yesterday. After the housecleaners left, I had to go off to Kaiser Berkeley in the morning for my weekly . . .
